The Firefox button shows by default only in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

In XP, to turn the Firefox button on or off you must remove or add a check mark to "Menu Bar" by doing one of the following (Menu Bar checked=Menu Bar on/Firefox button off; Menu Bar un-checked=Firefox button on; Menu Bar off):

  • HOLD the ALT key while pressing the keyboard letters VTM (will check or un-check depending on the current state)
  • If the Menu Bar is displayed, click View > Toolbars > Menu Bar (to un-check it)
  • If the Firefox button is displayed, click Firefox button > Options > Menu Bar (to check it)

You need to update the following:

  • Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 11.5
  • Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_24 for Mozilla browsers (version 1.6.0_25 is available for download; may not be available using the Manual Update method)
  1. Check your plugin versions on either of the following links':
  2. Update Shockwave for Director
    • NOTE: this is not the same as Shockwave Flash; this installs the Shockwave Player.
    • Use Firefox to download and SAVE the installer to your hard drive from the link in the article below (Desktop is a good place so you can find it).
    • When the download is complete, exit Firefox (File > Exit)
    • locate and double-click in the installer you just downloaded, let the install complete.
    • Restart Firefox and check your plugins again.
    • Download link and more information: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using+the+Shockwave+plugin+with+Firefox
  3. Update the Java plugin to the latest version.

First of all, I'm a new user of Firefox and I love it!!!!

Having said that, I beg to differ: My platform is Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2 and the Firefox Button DOES NOT load automatically. I would like it.

Just found out the solution and it works: Left click to display tool bars list and uncheck Menu Bar.

Peristera:

Right-clicking a toolbar works as well. However, not clicking in the "right" place (generally a blank space in a toolbar) will yield other results. A right-click on some toolbar buttons results in a drop-down list, for example, and some users have difficulty with that.

Did you try any of the other solutions offered?

Right clicking on a tool bar to display tool bars list and unchecking Menu Bar worked on my Windows 7. Thanks.
