When the latest update to Firefox installed, the icons next to the bookmarks disappeared. Is there a way to get them back?
In the past, whenever I popped down "Bookmarks" on the menu bar, there was often an "icon" or logo next to the bookmarks that made it easier to find things like email, airlines, etc. When the latest upgrade of Firefox installed, those useful symbols disappeared. Is there a way to get them back?

Icons missing in the Bookmarks menu
Icons (favicons) for bookmarks in the Bookmarks menu may be missing after updating to Firefox 9.
To restore them:
In the Location bar, type about:config and press EnterReturn. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
In the filter section type, image.mem.decodeondraw
Double-click the entry that results to change it's value to "False"
Close the tab
thank you

type in the address bar about:config
then press the button i'll be careful i promise
then type in the bar image.mem.decodeondraw
then Double-click on it, to make it false
exit firefox and restart-it.
thanks again
This solution did not work for me. I am running OS X 10.6.6. When I installed Firefox 8.0 the favicons disappeared. I just installed 9.0 and prayed they'd return. They did not. I followed the instructions given by Ideato. No change. Favicons still missing. I Quit and Restarted Firefox. Still no favicons. I miss my favicons.
You can try to restore them with this extension if setting the image.mem.decodeondraw pref to false isn't sufficient.
I installed the addon per instructions and restarted Firefox and STILL no favicons.
Did you open the preferences of that extension and choose to restore/rebuild the favicons?
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
