Firefox restores closed tabs when set to "show my home page"
I have set the option When Firefox starts: to "Show my home page". I expect to get one tab opened, showing my home page. Instead, I get a bunch of tabs that were open when I closed Firefox during reconfiguration. This includes my home page as the first tab - but that might be because that is how things were when the info was saved. I was reconfiguring because I just updated Zone Alarm and, as usual, it fiddled with my settings. (Grrr!!)

Found the answer. In about:config, browser.startup.homepage had all the tabs that I was getting, not just the page I asked for. I set it by clicking on "use current" from the relevant panel. Fixed it by modifying the string for browser.startup.homepage but presumably could have fixed it by closing the unwanted tabs and then setting homepage again.

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Problem was not in the user.js file. Somehow, my homepage had got set to be all the tabs I had open when I tried to set my homepage to the page on a particular tab. I could see this when I looked at browser.startup.homepage in about:config - all the tabs were listed in the parm.
