Just installed Thunderbird, and I can receive emails but am unable to send. An alert comes up that tells me to check that I am logged into Keberos/GSSAPI realm, how is this checked, and/or what other things need to be in place to be able to send

Why did you select that option as your Authentication Method for the SMTP server? Does your provider support that protocol?

If not change it to normal Password and see if it works.
