For ages my FF has saved and auto-installed usernames and passwords. I do change my passwords from time to time and they got updated without a problem.

However, this last few weeks, though I get asked if I want to update when I changed a password, and I click yes, it doesn't and the old passwords remain in the list.

I've checked everything I can see to check according to your other advice and all seems in order.

Any suggestions? It's getting really irritating!

I checked that out but couldn't see anything with which I was unfamiliar!

However, today it appears that this tool has reset itself and is now working. Perhaps due to the FF reset?

Anyway, thanks for your help - much appreciated.

Hello there,

Do you see any password in the Password Manager?

Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode (Never remember history).

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Private+Browsing

Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

Keep us posted!

"Do you see any password in the Password Manager?" I said I did

"Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode (Never remember history)." Also said I had done that.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Thanks - sorry to be dim but where would I find that?

I previously searched all over and don't recall ever seeing such a title though I might have just missed it!
