Yesterday 29-10-2018 after startup all FF bookmarks were gone, I checked the backup's folder, there was only one profile and the backup's folder did not contain backup's. So I started from scratch yesterday, but today those bookmarks were deleted again. The only bookmarks that show up are the standard ones. This time the restore function showed the backup from yesterday, but after importing that it appeared to be empty.

Are you still using the same profile?

You can check in Windows Explorer if there is a previous version of the places.sqlite file available or backups in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can look at this utility to browse System Restore points.
