I clicked the scrollbar while clicking m1 and m2 at the same time or close to the same time, and firefox's scrollbar suddenly became slower when I click on a spot and hold there. It's usually fast and follows to exactly where my cursor is, but now it's slow. It used to have the same speed as just dragging the scrollbar. Google doesn't have this problem. I refreshed firefox and uninstalled my smooth scroll extension, but the issue is still there. Was there an update today or yesterday that did this?

Try entering about:config in the address bar and checking the value of the following preference. apz.overscroll.enabled

In my version the default value is false. It may have been changed to true when you updated. Try changing it back to false.

WARNING from the moderator team: Changing Firefox preferences from the about:config page can sometimes break Firefox or cause strange behavior. You should only do this if you know what you're doing. Please read Firefox Advanced Customization and Configuration Options to learn more.

Firefox 116 has changed the way scrollbar thumb dragging works (Bug 1756814), the scroll position no longer jumps around on sites with infinite scroll which means you can't keep loading pages by dragging down. To load the next page you can click the bottom area of the scrollbar or press the End key.
