I have various multi-members set up on TB. Most of the time, I use them just as they are, but on occasion, I would like see the members of the list displayed in the "TO" field of the email, so I can delete one or two of them from a specific email. Is there a way to do this?

In Windows Live Mail, for example, clicking on the name of the list would display the members. This doesn't work in TB. Is there a similar function?

Thanks. I certainly thought I was clicking on the mailing list name, but I must not have been. I get the same two menus you mention now. The expand is exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks for your help.

Enter the name of the mailing list in the To, Cc or Bcc box, then right-click, Expand List (see picture).

The list I get when I LEFT click is pretty much entirely different: Undo, cut, copy, paste, delete, and select all are all options that are highlighted. Redo is not. Those are all the options.

I should have added a thank you for responding!

Right click on the mailing list name to see drop down like image previously supplied then left click on 'Expand List' option and the mailing list name should be replaced by all the individual email addresses. Then you select/highlight the unwanted email address - right click on it to see drop down options and click on delete. That email address gets removed from the list. Repeat as required to remove email address from that email.

However, you need to be aware that as all email addresses are now visible in a TO field, it does mean everyone who receives that email will see all the email addresses. This may be ok, but do all those contacts mind you sharing their personal information?

First, thanks for your reply.

I should have said right click, not left, and I get the options I listed, not the ones shown. If I left click, nothing happens. In particular, the expand option is not available when the list name is in the TO line. If I go into the address book, I do get to expand the list, but then any subtractions would be permanent, which is not what I'm trying to do.

In answer to your question, the fact that the addresses all show is not a problem at all. I know I could avoid it if I wanted to.

The options are available in the current version. What version of Thunderbird are you using ?

I recall in an older version you can do it via the address book. The info is still in a Help Article I created some time ago. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-create-and-use-mailing-lists-thunderbird#w_via-the-address-book

In 'Address Book' Do you see 'Write' button on the 'Address Book Toolbar' - same location as 'New Contact' - looks like the image supplied at the above link ? If yes: In left pane - Select the 'mailing list' name and click on 'Write' It should open a new Write message and display all the contacts as a list. Meaning you can then remove specific contacts.

Thanks for your replies.

I'm using 115.12.2 (64-bit), which I assume is the latest version since it's set to update automatically. There is no write button next to new contact. The choices are new address book, new contact, new list, and import. I would prefer a solution that does NOT require going to the address book anyway. .

I'm also using 115.12.2 (64-bit) on a Windows 10 OS

I've added image so you can see what I get.

Please note - if you right click in the TO field in an empty area - not on the actual mailing list name then you will see a different drop down list which only includes - Undo, Redo cut, copy, paste, delete, and select all. Some may be disabled.

It sounds like you are clicking in the TO field but not on the actual name of the mailing list. Can you create an image which is like mine and post it into this forum.
