I have the Adobe Reader plugin, but every time I view a PDF, my screen freezes. I'm not able to do anything until I close the PDF. is this a common problem? Is there another PDF reader plugin that is better and doesn't have this problem? As a writer, I really need to be able to access other tabs when I have a PDF open.

I had this same problem on two different machines using Firefox 4.0. The fix, for me, was to go to the add-ons and disable the adobe 10.0.1.434 plugin. Then go to adobe.com and download Adobe Reader X (10.0.1 at 46.29 MB). Close Firefox and install the reader. I then started Firefox back up and re-enabled the 10.0.1.434 plugin. I can now type in both the address bar and the search bar while a PDF file is being viewed in the browser.

Not sure if disabling the 10.0.1.434 plugin is necessary before installing Reader X (10.0.1 ) but these are the steps I took on two different machines and they both now work properly now.
