I have the web content cache limit set at 600 Mb, and when it reaches that limit my computer seems to run slower until I clear it. Does it matter what I set the limit to? If I set it lower will i just have clear it more often?

It is best to leave managing the cache to Firefox and use the default settings.
Firefox should automatically remove items once the cache gets full to make room for new items.

Tools > Options > Advanced > Network: Cached Web Content: [] "Override automatic cache management"
