For a number of recent Firefox updates Flash constantly crashes. Firefox on Windows 7 Home & Windows 7 Professional, Apple as well! It is consistent with crashing! You remove Flash completely and do the reboots, and then download Flash again from scratch and install. It then continues to crash - same procedure on ALL platforms. Even after having removed Firefox from the system completely and downloading it from scratch again. On ALL platforms. All Windows and Apple updates are the most recent. The only consistency is the continual crashes. Cut & paste the link to another browser and it works fine - again on ALL platforms. Using Youtube and other videos from many sites.

Why? Please get this fixed.

Hi justic3, I just experienced my first crash in youtube today using the flash player and they asked me to send a report. Currently, my fix has been to disable hardware acceleration in the Flash Settings.... and it stopped crashing. There is an open project being worked on called shumway that was being developed to act as a flash player.

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).

To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:

  1. Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
  2. Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
  3. Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
  4. Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.

The image "fpSettings1.PNG" does not exist.
  5. Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
  6. Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
  7. Restart Firefox.

This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

Thanks for this suggestion. I had already checked this one out and only have the one version on the system.

Thanks for your reply. I am now working on the various steps including the graphics driver which does need to be updated.

Ok, if you come accross a reflow box signature in your crash report, this is something that will be fixed in 32.0.2 later this week, just as a heads up.
