How do I prevent my cookie exception list from being programmatically amended?

I have Firefox set to never accept cookies, and I have an Exception list that specifically allows cookies from sites of my choice. Trouble is, this exception list is somehow being expanded with sites that I haven't included, and in some cases, sites that I've specifically blocked. For example, I have explicitly blocked cookies from Google. Yet, when I check the list, I find both the rule I entered blocking Google, and a new rule that I didn't enter specifying that Google may drop cookies for First Party Only.

Question: Who (besides me, the user) is allowed to expand the Exception list, and why? Seems to me this makes the promise of the list nearly worthless.

I'm running Firefox 33.1.1.

That is likely done by one of your extensions (? DoNotTrackMe).

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Yes. It was an extension, though not DoNotTrackMe. I couldn't quite make Safe Mode work reliably, so I worked my way down my list of extensions, selectively deactivating them one by one, until I found the culprit. Thanks for the lightning-quick response!
