Firefox has always displayed 12 tiles on a New Page Tab. Today (7/4/15) there are only 8. When I try to pin a site to the page, Firefox opens the site instead. I don't know if Mozilla has changed the rules about how many tiles can be displayed. The tiles that disappeared were sites that I use almost daily. Any suggestions?

I just accessed the thread at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1070178 -- same problem I was having. the-edmeister's suggestion to try CTRL + 0 fixed it for me. I didn't realize that display percentages had anything to do with it. All my usual tiles are displayed. Thanks!

The solution doesn't work for me, I need to set zoom to 80% every single time to see 3 rows of tiles.

Did you toggle this pref to false on the about:config page?

  • browser.newtab.preload = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

I have. No change.

I misspoke. CTRL + 0 doesn't actually do anything. But CTRL + - [dash] does. It reduces the percentage somewhat and my missing 4 tiles reappear. Unfortunately one has to do that every time a new tab is opened. I don't understand how it is that Mozilla thinks this is an improvement.

On another note, links in e-mails no longer connect. Clicking a link will bring up a new tab, but the page is all white. Frankly, I haven't noticed whether all this new stuff is happening with version 39, but it has all started happening at the same time recently. I didn't pay attention when 39 came out.

Something clearly is awry, and I hope the Mozilla folks get it figured out. It's a pain in the you-know-what.

Yes, it' related to FF39.

I'm running ff version 40.0.3 and as of today, all of my tiles are completely missing. When I open the new tab page, its blank white with nothing. No options for the tile page like usual, just blank. Pretty annoying with the already missing rows of tiles. I've tried everything mentioned here too with ff39 when I had it, and none of it fixed my tiles either.. except to zoom the page. But now, I don't even have tiles. I've restarted the comp over and same thing, cleared cache same thing. Now I have to wade through pages of bookmarks to find one page. Anyone built and extension yet to replace FF's tiles?

I went to about:config and toggled the browser.newtab.preload = false.

So far when I come back to the New Tab page my new tiles are still there. I will see how it holds up.
