Error message says: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server(SMTP) smtp-server.rochester.rr.com was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again."

Prior to the Win10 upgrade, Road Runner, Gmail and Outlook email all worded well, incoming and outgoing. Chrome Browser can connect to any web site and PING to smtp-server.rochester.rr.com works, no loss. Tried loading Thunderbird with no add on disabled and same result, no workie.

thanks for your help

Sounds like an anti virus issue to me. try disabling email scanning and excluding Thunderbird's process from defender

Matt, Thanks for the recommendations, here are the results: - Two Defender services were STOPPED and not running and startup type was set to: manual - Turn OFF my Avast anti-virus shields for 10 minutes - Re- installed Thunderbird.

Still getting same error message, no send or receive emails. Web browser interfaces do work & no hiccups for Road Runner, Outlook and Gmail....whaaat a bummer! Tom

Matt,

Ran Thunderbird this AM and my old mail was received!.

I can also send email but they only thing I have done is shutdown twice, no other actions so this is really baffling.

Again, thanks for your support and enjoy the holidays Tom
