Why do black rectangles sometimes appear, move around, and mar webpages?

After browsing for a while, black rectangles start to appear in webpages. Webpages also begin to break into rectangular segments and become mislocated (e.g., text blocks shift around, pictures appear in the wrong places). I can sometimes solve the problem temporarily by opening Android settings and clearing the cache from the Firefox browser, but sometimes the cache is already empty. Is this an indication that I need more memory on my device?

Hi

I have had the same thing happen to myself, often when I have been looking at large files, and I think you may be right - it could be a performance issue.

If your device has an external SD card install, you can move Firefox for Android to the SD card.

  1. Navigate to Settings on your device. You can find the settings menu in the app drawer.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Select the Firefox (or any other) app you want to move to the microSD card.
  4. Tap the Move to SD Card button. If you don't see a Move to SD Card button, the app cannot be moved.

Another option is clear out cached data and any downloaded files from the device (not just Firefox for Android). Yo can get more information about this from a specialist Android support forum.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.
