I have removed my account but where is my message data kept?

more options

I wanted to stop getting emails on one of my computers so I removed the account. As I didn't tick the box "Remove message data" I thought I would still have access to my old emails in Thunderbird but just couldn't receive or send any more emails. But it has deleted the account totally so that I can not view anything in relation to this email address on Thunderbird. Therefore I would like to get the emails that I had and put them on my other computer that I have only just set up with Thunderbird for this email address so I can access them when I need them.

I am always amazed at the people that are surprised when they select Remove Account and it disappears. Not selecting Remove Data leaves the message intact on your drive and hides them.

How to recover a deleted account. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_deleted_mail_accounts

Before removing an account you need to make folders under the Local Folder account and move any keeper message there. When in Local Accounts they are on your local drive and not associated with any email account. When you are sure that you have the messages in Local Accounts and they are readable you can remove the account.
