Does old Thunderbird version matter when moving profile from dead computer to new one ?

I know how where my Thunderbird profile is stored and know how to use it with fresh Thunderbird installation.

I don't know though what version of Thunderbird I had installed previously. If I'll install newest Thunderbird version on my new computer, will the old profile fully work with it ?

Additional question: I am not sure what add-ons I had installed in previous TB installation. I would like the new TB to work the same as the last one did if possible. Are those add-ons saved somewhere ? Are they part of the profile ? Can they be recovered for the new installation ? And if so, again, do different versions of TB matter for that ?

Thank you very much

Add-on are installed "in the profile" so whatever is in your old will obviously be in your new, although some may need to be updated if the version of Thunderbird changes a lot. But normally you can expect the current version to just work with older profiles.
