alternative identities of key owner

I'm using the latest version of Thunderbird with the built-in OpenPGP support. One of the public keys in my keychain has multiple identities (i.e. multiple e-mails) linked to it. Thunderbird's integrated OpenPGP support doesn't seem to work properly with this. Basically, when I try to send an encrypted email to the address identified as an "alternative" identity I get this error:

Unable to send this message with end-to-end encryption, because there is a problem with the keys of the following recipients: *********@domain-2.com"

When I click OK I get directed to a window titled "OpenPGP Message Security" where it says there is "no accepted key" for the selected recipient tied to that alternative identity email.

When I click on "Manage Keys for Selected Recipient" the next window shows the key (which I had already accepted) but it shows as "Not accepted (undecided)".

When I click on "Open details and edit acceptance..." and I look under the "Your Acceptance" tab, that exact same key already says "Yes, I've verified in person this key has the correct fingerprint."

This issue only affects the emails tied to alternative identities of the key. The primary email for the key works fine otherwise. I don't seem to have any problems sending/receiving encrypted email using that exact same alternative identity on MacMail using GPG Tools. The issue seems to affect only Thunderbird at this point.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Some additional information. I installed Thunderbird 68.x using Enigmail and that works just fine with the alternate email tied to the user's key. So, the issue appears to be exclusive to the OpenPGP that's integrated on later versions of Thunderbird.
