You do not have the Firefox button if you are using Windows XP. Yours will show the Menu bar instead. The Firefox button will only show if you are using Windows 7 or Vista:

So do you have the Menu bar showing? If you do, go to: Tools > Options > Privacy and CHECK the Private Browsing

danks I thought that might be an issue, now I need to repost my other question. The ability to open more then one page of same page when things are funky makes life easier. The tutorial says is won't let you. That has other benefits !

thanks agin

If I understand you correctly, you do not want your page to be refreshed automatically, right? You can try this add-on to see if it helps:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/refreshblocker/

Be careful, it might block all of other pages as well.
