My bookmarks are gone and recovery isn't helping?

I'm using windows 10. I boot up my computer and firefox lost all my bookmarks and passwords. I have tried to follow instructions to recover it but none of it helps. Any idea how to fix it? I had a lot of things bookmarked I didn't want to lose.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

You may have changed profiles, or refreshed Firefox.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

Occasionally after updates, Windows starts up with privilege issues that cause Firefox not to have complete access to your data. If you haven't already, try shutting down Windows and starting it up again to resolve any issue along those lines.
