The problem still remains, even tried the following: Run cmd.exe as an administrator and run netsh winsock reset Then restart PC. Still not working. Run these commands: ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew netsh winsock reset catalog netsh int ip reset reset.log hit Same results as before. Firefox not working.

Found no solutions for firefox and Internet Explorer version 11. I had windows 10 for quite some time while using Firefox browser. Even though after going through these troubleshooting steps mentined above, I even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I always like and use Firefox after Internet Explorer 11 was giving me some issues. It appears that Windows somehow added the Edge Browser without my knowledge possibly through the Windows Update. I never use or heard of Edge Browser before. Only browser Edge works now as since it is the only browser that I used to access the internet.

Also, tried this: Type "cmd.exe" into Search and then right-click on Command Prompt to select 'Run as administrator' Type "netsh winsock reset" into Command Prompt, and then press Enter Restart PC Still did not work. Also, I checked the Windows Firewall (Windows Defender to see if any Firefox application is listed. Sure enough, Firefox is listed and checked only the Private checkmark, not Public checkmark. I tried to check the Public checkmark, but will not work.

I also uninstalled two malaware viruses programs, Malaware and Obit. Still, the firefox browser will not appear after clicking the shortcut.

In addition, I ran the windows update/security troubleshoooting. There were three main issues: Repair Windows Update Database corruption, Windows Update Components, and Check for pending updates. All three issues were fixed, rebooted, and ran the troubleshooting again for windows update/security. Sure enough, all three issues reappeared again and again after running the troubleshooting even after rebooting each time.

I checked the Task Manager and showed firefox in the process tab with 51% of CPU. End the process and still no firefox.

I also start in the safe mode with networking and downloading the firefox with upgrade. After that, still the same, no firefox up and running, just the spinning wheel from the mouse pointer and disappeared as usual.

I am out of ideas to resolve this issue. Anybody out there can provide a solution?

Try fixing the issue with Dism as local files maybe corrupted : Windows 10 To run the DISM command use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu, then select Command Prompt (Admin). Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" (without quotes or copy/paste) and press Enter. Note : SFC fixes files locally using files found on your system. Note : DISM goes up to Microsoft for new ones.

You uninstalled so : Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Help ? --> Troubleshooting Information Page and take a look in the Accessibility section if accessibility is set to "true" there. if yes, go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.

Update Video Card Drivers.

Note getting info from Microsoft is ok but go to http://www.thewindowsclub.com/ and use the forum and here also https://www.tenforums.com/

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I also forgot to mentioned in my first post that I already tried the "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" command and still no good. However, I will try it again.

I did the following:

"DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" command

Uninstall the complete Firefox including program files

reboot

disk Clean up utility including system files twice.

Reinstall the full version of Firefox 57.0

Ran all trouble shooting . Two issues:

windows update/security troubleshoooting. Same results as indicated on my first post.

Program compatibility troubleshooting: Firefox program. Results shown no compatibility.

Click on the short cut Firefox icon. Same results. mouse pointer spins wheel and disappear, nothing happened. Did not show up as a web browser.

It seems everything I had done so far is still the same as it is now. What next? Any comments, anyone?

Firefox is up and running and working!! After much researching this issue of Firefox not working, I finally got it running !! Here is how I did it:

I did a complete windows 10 repairs, saving all the files and programs. This eliminated the issues of the Windows Update as I mentioned earlier in the first post. The only issue with windows update in troubleshooting was pending updates, instead of the remaining two. I don't know if that was the problem but at least eliminating that issue.

Next, I researched the web on the firefox not running/working. I download the lastest Firefox Quantum browser. I am not sure if that is the latest Firefox Browser version that I downloaded from the previous post.

Through a series of maneuvers, I reboot the computer and still not getting Firefox to work. In the Window Ten forum, I searched for Firefox issues. There were a lot of posts and painfully looked into each one of them.

The bottom line is it turns out that this Completely_reset_Firefox_to_default BATCH File. I downloaded and put on the desktop and click on it. Reboot the computer and click on the shortcut Firefox. Sure enough, Firefox browser is up and running good.

I am at lost as to what started the Firefox issues in the first place. I suspected that before Firefox went nowhere, I uninstalled several programs that I don't need using obit uninstaller. I did a powerful scan that shares other program files. I wondered if that is related to removing shared program files with Firefox that caused Firefox not to work at all.

In any event, I am happy Firefox is up and running. Thanks to all for reading and posting the issues of concerns.
