I log into my road runner email account when I'm away and delete 100's of messages. When I return home, all the messages show up in my Inbox, as if I never read and deleted most of them. What can I do so that deleted messages do not show up on y home Inbox?

@smasters - based on your description I'm going to assume that you set up your email account in thunderbird as a POP3 account.

POP3 simply donwnloads a copy to your thunderbird machine and (by default) leaves the original on the [road runner] server. Once TBird downloads these messages, there's no correlation to the server.

I suggest you re-add this account to thunderbird as IMAP (Road runner should be able to provide needed settings). An IMAP account will stay in sync between thunderbird and the server so when you delete from one (either one) the deletion will sync to the other. This will also be true of read/unread status and moving/storing in folders.

Following through, you could do the same for your phone/tablet or any other devices you read email on and they will stay in sync as well.

hth.
