I have designated that opening a new tab opens Google. I would like the cursor to be in the search box on the page not in the address box. I'm sure this is new behavior for Firefox. It's annoying to start typing and then realize i'm in the address box typing in the middle of the address. How can I change it?

You can look at this extension as that has a feature to set the focus.

Hello!

It doesn't really matter where you type your search in. As long as you have Google (or any other search engine) as your default then it will search for what you want once you click ENTER.

I do not know how to change so that the search is on the actual Google bar though, sorry. What I'm saying is just that it doesn't matter where you search it (whether its on the address bar or the Google Search bar)

I know I can search in the address bar but I have to delete the Google address that is already in the address bar before I can type. There are extra steps that previously did not exist when I opened a new Google tab. I just want to set focus on the search box on the webpage, ready to type a search

Is this a Firefox problem or a Google problem?

Aha yes, now I understand. Are you using google.com as your “homepage” on Firefox? Then that’s the problem. If you switch back to the default homepage then there is nothing in the address bar and you can search away with Google.

I already have that addon installed. Yes, I do see that set focus is a feature, however, I don't see how to apply that from the options described with the addon. I'll try to work with the add in support if there is any. Thank you.

I rechecked New Tab Override. I just needed an updated version. Now I see the option. Thank you cor-el
