Firefox Tabs not re-opening after Restart

more options

Over the past several days, Firefox has been randomly shutting down. When reopened, my previous tabs have disappeared. While setting up my laptop on a docking station today, I had to reboot several times. Every time it reopened my previously opened tabs are gone. Yes, I have Settings set to re-open Firefox with previously opened tabs. It has worked beautifully for me for years. Does anyone know what is going on? What I can do?

Sorry to hear about this problem. Couple questions:

(1) Does Firefox retain your browsing history (recently visited URLs list on the History menu) or is that getting lost, too?

(2) Can you restore any missing windows using the menu? Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > History > Recently Closed Windows
  • (menu bar) History > Recently Closed Windows
  • Ctrl+Shift+N

(3) When starting Firefox, did it mention needing to create a new profile or doing a reset? (These are not recommended fixes, just some scenarios where you might lose data.)
