For any given Bookmarks folder, is it possible to have the subfolders all appear *above* the individual links (as they do in Internet Explorer), rather than mixed together alphabetically? (Or is there perhaps an add-on that will allow me to do this?)

The SortPlaces add-on may be of use to you, it gives greater control over sorting bookmarks and folders.

Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

  • Shockwave Flash 10.0 r12
  • Java Plug-in 1.6.0_13 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)

Update the Java plugin to the latest version.

Wonderful - the 'Sort Folders Separately' option in SortPlaces allowed me to do just what I wanted. Many thanks, TonyE. And thanks, cor-el, for prompting me to update my plugins.

Provisional solution is to place one or more zeros in front of your folder names, that way they should always appear on top in their alphabetical order.
