Weird problem with Firefox 6.
Let me explain, when I open a webpage with a lot of images like for example an official thread about a game in a forum, the connection in Firefox is stuck, I mean It loads the web but not the images and saying "connecting with... " and It doesnt load any image.
But the weird thing is the connection is out forever, I mean if I go another website is still "connecting with..." and the only fix is reboot Firefox 6.
Also Let me explain what things I tried.
-IE and Google Chrome works fine. -Firefox 3.6.20 and Firefox 5.0.1 works fine. -APB+ disabled in Firefox 6, the problem is still there.
So I dont know what kind of problem this thing has, also browsing with 5.0.1 its not safe right? because its not longer supported.

Probably only changing network.http.max-connections to its old value of 30 is sufficient. The increase in Firefox 7 to 256 may be too much.

I have the same problem. It happens after 20-30 seconds after i start firefox 6. I start firefox go to google homepage click on news on the top bar the news page starts loading and WTF it freezes, I mean firefox as such does not hang but if I click on any link it just does not connect and gives the same message as in the OP. I opened Chrome and IE9 side by side and the website is working but in firefox nothing is happening. I restart but then also it is only after 2-3 times that the sites starts working. Firefox is getting on my nerves and sooner I will ditch it and go to IE9 or Chrome or even Opera. What shitty updates they are giving. As firefox was not opening websites I had to post this via Chrome.
I am thinking of posting it as a bug but don't know what subject/topic should I give.
Just for stats I have Firefox 6 on Windows 7 64bit, AMD Phenom II X6 1090T, 8GB Ram, ATI Radeon 6850.
My stats are totally different than yours, so I guess its a Firefox problem.
Any help?
With 6.01 its the same problem...
The problem is still there with 6.0.2, when we wil have a fix for this?
Of course I followed all the "experts and disabled everything, removed cookies and turned of anything else but it still freezes. Mozilla seem to have lost all interest in customer support. Shame it is a great product. They were the same with Thunderbird, it was buggy, I complained and heard nothing.
Same symptoms here. Started happening on FF 6.0 using Win 7. Works fine on a Vista PC. Is the problem only on Win 7?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Thanks for the help cor-el, but you are wrong, I tried with differents PCs even with no firewalls and the problem is still there.
Did you make changes to network.http prefs on the about:config page or changed other prefs to tweak Firefox?
You can also try to disable IPv6 to see if that helps.
Sorry cor-el but I did not change nothing in there and I tried the IPv6 thing and the problem is still there.
Like I said this only happens in Firefox 6, not in Firefox 3, 4, or 5.
Do you see the images in the Tools > Page Info > Media window?

No, I cant see the images because Firefox 6 connection freezes (not Firefox, only the connection) and Its using my CPU for no reason.
Also with Safe Mode and add ons off and no themes the problem is still there.
Firefox 7 and the problem is still there... so really we will not have a fix for this?
I have the exact same problem. Some additional information: - It happens in Firefox 6 and 7, but not in 5. - I have tried with a clean profile, with safe mode and even reinstalling, and no luck. - When it happens, CPU goes to 100%. - I have Win XP with Nod32 Antivirus 4 and Windows Firewall.
Create a New Profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
-> Basic Troubleshooting: Make a New Profile
IF that New Profile works then you can recover your Bookmarks and Passwords from the Old Profile.
-> Recovering important data from an old profile
Check and tell if its working.
A new profile cant fix this, Its a problem with the engine, a lot of users with different OS and specs have this problem since Firefox 6.
I still suspect the you have some security software running that is preventing Firefox from loading images.
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Do you see any of the not loading images in Tools > Page Info > Media ?
Its not any firewall or antivirus... I tried in different PCs and one of them does not have nothing, In other I disabled the NOD32 and the problem is still there.
Let me explain again.
-If the webpage has only a few images It loads perfect. -If the webpage has a lot of images, the images dont load but its not because another software, antivirus or something, Its because Firefox conecction gets stuck and then It cant connect with nothing, even if you open another tab, It wont load anything, only It says "connecting to..." like if you dont have Internet, and the only fix is close Firefox and restart.
In a forum I tried this, I made a thread with images and I started with 10, 20, 30.. and It loaded fine but with about 40 or sometimes random this problem happens, sometimes maybe its not the number and maybe Its because the size of the images , and sometimes Load well because some Images are already loaded in the cache, , Its like Firefox cant open so many images and dies.
Its a Firefox problem since version 6, I dont have this problem with 3, 4 or 5, even with another browsers It loads fine.
