Did Firefox work normally until just recently? Can you think of any changes on your system or in your configuration that might have occurred around the same time?
If bold text is selectively missing or corrupted, it can indicate a problem with the font used to display that text. Are you allowing websites to use their own styles or are you using your global font settings for all pages? This is set here:
orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Content
In the Fonts & Settings section, click Advanced...; if you unchecked the box to let pages apply their own fonts, try checking it again and see whether that makes any difference.

The problem is cured when i unchecked the box that let pages apply their own font :)) but is there a way to return it as before?
You may have a problem with the Arial font.
Does the problem return if you switch the Proportional setting to Sans-serif and select Arial as the default Sans-serif font?
nope :)
Does it help if you disable hardware acceleration in Firefox?
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
Nope! :)
By the way, you usually need to restart Firefox after changing the hardware acceleration setting before seeing any change.
Does this affect any sites other than Google sites?
Did you try the suggestions in the above help articles?
Do you already have Download buttons back?
Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
You can use this extension to see which fonts are used for selected text.
You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).
You can try different default fonts and temporarily disable website fonts to test the selected default font.
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
- [ ] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
@jscher... yup... tried the article... :) and yes.. it also affects other sites (facebook, 9gag, twitter and tumblr)
@cor-el... this is the screenshot :) and the font test showed that i have installed 265 fonts in my computer.. and looking at each one of them.. they are still working :)

Seems your Arial Bold font is not rendering correctly. Could you check your Fonts folder for any oddities, such as an impostor font?
