Something called mysearch dial has overridden my previous setiings, homepage etc, how do I get rid of it and go back to the way things were?
Adobe asked to update on my computer, so I said yes, but somehow in the process this "Mysearchdial managed to install itself. I think I've mostly got rid of it, but it reset my homepage and the New tab page still shows "mysearchdial" in the bottom left corner. How do I go back to my previous settings before this infection?

Lawrence, it's no problem. You can try the things later.
Looks like MySearchDial is still enabled in your Extensions list. You should remove that.
- Click the Waterfox button, go to Add-ons > Extensions
- Click Remove for MySearchDial
If that still doesn't work, you can create a new profile and transfer all of your existing bookmarks/passwords/etc into the new profile. Seeing as you have little to no extensions installed and they are easily installable again. I'll put your extension below to download after installing the new profile
- Name: BullGuard Safe Browsing Version: 2.1 Enabled: false ID: antiphishing@bullguard (nevermind this is disabled)
You can use the below link to create a new profile
You can also transfer all of your existing personal information over as well into the Firefox Profile Folder
- This link shows you how to get into your Profile Folder
- This link shows you what each file holds and which ones you want to copy over
Usually, most users only want their bookmarks and passwords and that's fine
- places.sqlite (Bookmarks & Browsing History)
- key3.db - This file stores your key database for your passwords. To transfer saved passwords, you must copy this file along with the following file: signons.sqlite (Saved passwords)

It pisses me off that Adobe still bundles crapware with Flash and other products. Same for Java with that stupid Ask.com toolbar.
Rant mode off.
You can reset your new tab page through about:config
- Go to about:config from your Address Bar
- Click the I'll be careful, I promise! button to continue
- Search for "browser.newtab.url"
- Right click it then click Reset.
- Restart Firefox and try to open a new tab. It shows either show "about:blank" or "about:newtab"
Okulungisiwe
when I right clicked on browser.newtab.url, "reset" was in grey and not selectable
Hmm, I think I know what's going on.
Can I have your troubleshooting information?
- Go to Help > Troubleshooting Information > Copy text to clipboard and paste (CTRL + V/Command + V) your response into a new reply.

this may be a dumb question, but what's the Waterfox button?

Found it!
Seems to have solved the problem - Thanks for your help
