Is there any way to stop websites from opening pop-up windows?

Firefox is automatically set to block all pop-up windows, but most of the time they keep popping up anyway. Sometimes it's after a click and sometimes it isn't. Recently I was searching for a website and clicked on the wrong link by accident. Once the page loads, I get 18 pop-up windows which instantly close and reopen themselves as tabs. Is there any other way to stop pop-up windows and/or this explosion of unwanted tabs?

Hi cream, you could try an addon like Adblock Plus or NoScript but be careful using them as they might block content you used to see automatically. So take care configuring them properly.. Hope i helped you!
