When I go on Jigzone Puzzle site, a moving advertisement appears and is so distracting and so close to the puzzle it's impossible to focus on the puzzle.
Starting several weeks ago, an advertisement appears on the Jigzone Puzzle page on the right. It's large and the picture is "live" and moving. It's almost on top of the puzzle and is much too distracting to continue with the puzzle. I tried scrolling up so only the puzzle shows but the ad is so close I have to scroll up so much it's very hard to do the puzzle. I don't know if it's a pop-up (I've disabled pop-ups) or a cookie or what. So I don't know how to get rid of it. You can enlarge it but you can't make it go away.

I have had the same problems with v15 upto v20 & finally come across the "adblock plus 2.0.3" add-on & for flash there is "flashblock 1.5.17" that both work very well. If its for your version as well it cant hurt to try.
It might have been helpful if I knew how to change or add my adblock version. The only place I could find adblock on my computer was in the Applications folder and there are no instructions anywhere that I could find about how to change versions.
So this writer's suggestion may be a good one but I don't know how to carry it out.
I'm sorry, I thought I said. The applications are both firefox add-ons I found in their gallery / lists. To get there click on 'firefox' (upper-left corner of browser) and select 'add-ons'. The page will open with several tabs listed down the left-side. 2nd one down is 'extensions' - this is where you'll see almost all of your optional add-ons. If you had 'adblock' it would be listed here. The top 'Get Add-ons' is where you go to find new ones you want to download & install. Go there, and if you go thru a few pages you'll see there are hundreds to choose from, so you will want to take the tour thru how to use this 'video' shown at the top or scroll down to the bottom & click on 'Learn more about add-ons' if you'd like to get more how-to on add-ons. Either way you will want to narrow the list when you're ready to gets some so use the search box up top and type in a simple term such as 'block ads' and you'll get a list to choose from. when you choose one or more, each will pop up a window asking if you want it installed. Click 'install now' on the 1st one and if you select a 2nd & 3rd, those will download but that window you dont have to installnow, it will just put them in that list in'extensions' tab. In the extensions tab you can 'enable' & disable them or remove (delete) them to try out a few til you find one that works for your needs. I apologize if this explanation sounds too teach-ee, I just wanted too include as much as possible so you have everything you need to do it without playing ping-pong with me. But if you have any more questions I would love to hear from you so dont be shy. Let me know how you made out.

Dear Uptown, Thanks so much! Your response was exactly what my brain needed to get itself around the problem - crystal clear, simple language, and intelligent!!! Despite little differences no doubt due to oldness of my MAC, I was able to follow your directions very well. I got as far as the "block ads" page but didn't see 2.0.3. However I did try one called Simple Adblock with a lower number that appears to have resolved the flashing-ad problem - can't thank you enough. Now, there was an old comedy routine about a patient complaining to a psychiatrist that she couldn't move her arm and after working through it, she was able to, but as she left, she fell and reported that she couldn't move her leg...So in that same space now, a gov't ad page seems to have appeared! But it's much calmer, black and white, no flashing, and I can live with it. In trying to remove the ad without knowing what I was doing, I must have erased something important - because now, on Firefox, the Jigzone Puzzle page has some strange problems (noticed before installing the new adblock). I deleted something - plug-ins, cookies, cache, something that just makes finding the right puzzle, moving the pieces around, etc., impossible to do. Dare I ask if you have any thoughts about that? Sorry - it's your own fault for being so darn helpful! - Frances F.
Give ne a few minutes, I'm in the middle of something and cant leave it right now. I'll try to help - if you can hang on a second. p.s. you probably didnt do anything wrong or erased anything - it could be the puzzle is written to work with the same stuff the other ad used and is blocked partially. I'll be right back!
Hi Frances. To be able to rule out your adblock addon from being the problem on that site do this: go into 'add-ons' in the firefox menu, into the extension tab (just like before) find the adblock addon and click on the 'disable' button. NOW GO TO YOUR GAME SITE AGAIN & SEE IF ITS STILL NOT WORKING FOR YOU OR IF ITs (sorry, not yelling at you. That key placement sucks) see if its working like it did before adding adblock. If its working good without it then its that particular add0n causing the puzzle problem. This is okay, you just need to follow my instructions and get a different adblock addon from the same place you got the first. You may have to install a few (one at a rime) til you find one that doesn't block your puzzle from working. If you notice while looking for add-ons the list will contain only ones that go with your version of firefox & OpSystem. Occasionally you may see one grayed out, that means not available to your version as well. Try bthat while I finish up with my stuff. And let me know whats happening. Good Luck. (My typing sucks but I have very long nails and well...)
Hi frances, I think you could widen your search if you get to the bigger catalogue listing. If you want more options for your Mac OS X 10.6 with firefox 21 try going thru these steps. First go to the add-on tabs thru the firefox menu. Select the 'Get Add-ons' tab, enter ad block in the search box, scroll to the bottom of the page & click on the 'See All 125 Results'. This will take you to a catalogue of add-ons. If you look up the left-side to the different catagories you can narrow the results. But first at the top of the page, the search-box in the upper-right type in 'adblock add-ons for Mac OS X 10.6' & click the arrow. Next go to the left-side, leave the top (it should say 'All Add-ons'). Select the arrows beside 'Works with' and select your firefox version and your Mac OS. The list that comes up will be long. When I did it tonight it listed 166 add-ons. At or near the top should be the 'adblock plus' I suggested, which is a great program but its all up to personal preferences and needs. You can read their description now or after you install it by clicking the 'Add to Firefox" button that will appear on the right-side when you hover your mouse over each one. There will be a 'more' in red after you install it, with a better description. Some will also have a 'options' button. But you can get to this catalogue no matter which type of add-on you need, just select that "See All # Results". I hope this helps someone out there. I'm not very good at this stuff anymore, but I am willing to investigate what I dont know. And I am willing to admit I can be wrong. I just hope if I am - that someone has the wherewithall to tell me (to shut up!). Hahaha! If you stop laughing...you might as well start digging your own grave.
Truly, I'm enjoying life much more now than I did 50 or so years ago and I laugh a lot more! I want to thank you not just for answering so well but also for inspiring me to believe that I can actually delve into some of these mysterious places without erasing either myself or the entire contents of my computer! i.e. you've given me courage! Now if I can just figure out where "Solved" went to .... -Frances F.
This is also very helpful. I will keep "plugging away" at the Firefox site - meanwhile I've moved over to Safari to do the puzzle. It doesn't feel right - kind of like I'm on the wrong street and though it looks familiar, it ain't home. Wish I could grow longer nails but I play piano ... I wonder if "uptown" refers to a location in a particularly large, well-known USA city? If so, me too. Anyway, nice chatting and many thanks again.
