After upgrading to Firefox 7.0.1, on cold-launch of any URL via [Start][Favorites] menu, get *Windows* "cannot find" URL dialog BUT page DOES load in Firefox without problem. Cold-launch = Firefox not pre-loaded.

Still happens if I have IE8 open to the same URL prior to Firefox launch from [Start][Favorites].

I have tried suggestions on Help pages, did NOT fix.

UPDATE: Just got to work, and Firefox 7 does NOT have this problem.

UPDATE: Completely uninstalled Firefox 7, including \Apps Data\Mozilla folder, then reinstalled. Problem still there.

THANKS, the Registry edits worked.

Just unchecking Use DDE did not work, they just came back.

COMMENT: Wonder why upgrading to Firefox 7 caused this behavior, and just on my home desktop (WinXP SP3). This did not on my work desktop.

UPDATE:

Mentioned the my WinXP system at work did not have the problem.

Discovered that I did NOT have Empty Cache Button 1.9 Add-on installed. AFTER installing it FF did have the same problem as my home system.

So it's the Empty Cache Button 1.9 that screws-up the Windows DDE.
