browsing cnn, most often when clicking on a video, but not exclusively then, or gmail, sometimes when opening a mail, sometimes just scrolling thru the list of emails. occasionally other sites. these crashes can happen multiple times per day.

I've disabled addons and it still crashes.

I've done a "reset" and it still crashes.

That looks like a problem with GStreamer. Make sure that you have the latest GStreamer updates.

You can try to toggle this pref to false on the about:config page to disable GStreamer support for the HTML5 media player.

  • media.gstreamer.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Ah, thanks. setting media.gstreamer.enabled=false seems to have done the trick.

I'm on Centos 6.7, fully updated, so I've got the latest gstreamer bits released for that platform. So, while there may be newer gstreamer bits, I'm reluctant to install them, unless there's some particular benefit to it.
