Whenever I try to save an attachment, or attach a file to an email which is located on my server, the drives and/or folders are greyed out. I have to save to my local hard drive then copy the file to the server, or vice versa. This has only started happening in the last couple of months . . . it also affects Firefox. Running MacOS 10.6.8 on an older iMac with Thunderbird 38.5.1. Lloyd

When you get your answer for Firefox, the Thunderbird one will be the same. But my guess is your network drives are "not available" perhaps you have updated a network driver or something similar.

Hi Matt, Thanks for your response . . . but the problem is only apparent within Thunderbird or Firefox . . . I can save an attachment to my desktop, then copy it to my server from there in the Finder. It applies to PC shared folders, as well as Synology, WD MyCloud and Seagate NAS drives.

Addin to the symptoms . . . I have now discovered that Thunderbird WILL save attachments to my network drive . . . but only if the location appears in my Recent Places list . . .
