Why did Adblock Plus for Firefox (Android) stop working?

It worked fine until just tonight. Only difference is earlier I briefly accessed the Internet via a public Wi-Fi network but I can't see why that would change it.

I require Adblock Plus to visit a site known for its ads that aggressively hijack my browser. Chrome (default browser) has no such add-ons, and the Adblock browser takes up a massive amount of memory, so that's why I'm using Adblock for Firefox. I tried re-downloading the add-on and disallowing unobtrusive ads with no luck. Additionally, Firefox keeps asking permission to record audio when I visit that site.

I do use the "desktop" version of the site (it loses functionality, otherwise) but that never mattered before. Out of curiosity, I visited the desktop version of Yahoo!, and ads show up there, too. Same with Mail .com, I didn't even select "desktop version" but ads loaded anyway. So the problem isn't unique to that one site.

I checked my apps library, it says Firefox updated two days ago, but Adblock was still working after then.

I'll provide more info if asked, I'm not sure how to determine the version of Firefox one is using on Android. Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, Android 8.0.0.
