When I click any link in an email (gmail) firefox refuses to take me to the site. Instead I get error messages like error 404 or most recently, the attached which was from a link in an email from my doctor. I opened the same link using brave no problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox a few times. I have deleted all plug ins. I can open every single one of those links and any other links in brave or any other browser. Not firefox. This is frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

I think links in messages in Gmail always open a new tab. Are you getting the tab and then it doesn't go anywhere? At that point, does the address in the address bar look like what you expected?

By the way, do the links work any better if you right-click the link and choose Open in New Private Window?

Yes links in gmail open new tabs but the tabs always give error 404 or some other type of error. Sometimes the tab opens and there's nothing there at all. Sometimes the address is what I expect and sometimes not. Here's an example from just now when I tried clicking on a link where the address is not what I expected but works perfectly fine in brave. The URL should be https://rumble.com/c/X22Report but the attached is what I get from firefox. WIth brave I am taken right to the proper URL Right clicking on the link I put in above gives the same error as the attached however sometimes right clicking will work. It's a crap shoot at this point.

In your example, GetResponse is a bulk email company that presumably builds links that pass through a tracking script on its site. For some reason, you got stuck on their site. My guess as to why that is happening is that either Firefox or an add-on is removing parameters from the address, particularly the parameter that allows forwarding you to the intended destination URL after your click is logged.

Maybe you could use MS Word or Notepad to compare the links between Brave and Firefox: right-click the link in Gmail in each browser, Copy, then Paste into Word/Notepad and see whether the Firefox link is missing parameters compared with Brave. If they are the same, hmm, if you paste from Brave to Firefox's address bar and submit it there, does it work?

Great suggestions! Ok, it appears to my untrained eye that both URL's are the same and yet when I did what you asked, I got the same results. Firefox won't do it. It appears I might have another issue as well. If I minimize any other browser & then click the icon in the dock, that browser pops back up. Firefox isn't doing that anymore. That's an entirely different subject that I will ask about in a new post once this is resolved.

firefox right click/copy link: https://app.getresponse.com/click.html?x=a62b&lc=hYIa8I&mc=Iw&s=BMRv4gJ&u=vmtH&z=EMmdVL9&

brave right click/copy link address: https://app.getresponse.com/click.html?x=a62b&lc=hYIa8I&mc=Iw&s=BMRv4gJ&u=vmtH&z=EMmdVL9&

If I paste from brave to firefox it won't work.

If I click on both of my links above using firefox, I get the 404 error. If I click on them in brave, they work

Hmm, unless you have an add-on that is stripping one or more of the parameters from the URL after you submit it, I can't explain why the GetResponse redirect isn't working. Do you have any privacy-related add-ons that might do that?

No, none. I have given up. I am now using brave. This morning I uninstalled absolutely everything to do with firefox (didn't just plop it in the trash), then reinstalled. Same issue. I'm done. Thanks for trying though.
