I don't think much will happen and if it does it's into the future, that's just rhetoric and positioning, you've heard, and you will be able to choose your own search engines in Firefox and in other browsers in any case. What do you mean by the Firefox tab, do you mean the orange "Firefox" button, that button disappears when you have a menu bar, and the menu bar disappears when you have the "Firefox" button or at least that was the intent, and that is strictly Firefox. It sounds like you like the Firefox button instead of menus.
