Latest versions of FF seem to have done away with the easily customizable option allowing control over the period for which the browsing history would be saved. The default in my case seems to be just around 1 month.

Is there any way in which it can be changed/modified?

i've looked forever for a solution to saving browsing history and displaying history with timestamps. firefox sync which is found in the options window under sync might be useful.
