problems to update firefox
I run Firefox on my computer under Win XP SP3 I use Avast antivirus I have no script running as a plugin in Firefox Since a few updates, I cannot update my firefox as he says: cannot update firefox as Firefox is yet running on this computer restart it but nothing runs else than windows, I don't understand my onlys solution is to remove Firefox and re-load it...

The symptom sounds like Firefox is "hanging at exit"and not completely closing down.
- Stop the Firefox process:
- Mozillazine - Kill application
- Windows 7 users click here
- Mac users: http://techheavy.com/2011/02/the-mac-task-manager/
- Why Firefox may hang:
- Firefox hangs (see Hang at exit)
- Firefox hangs (Mozillazine) (see Hang at exit and Closing Firefox properly)
- Firefox is already running but is not responding
- Use Firefox Safe Mode to find a problem with an Extension or Plugin:
- Don't check anything when entering Safe Mode, just continue
- If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode it is probably and Extension or Plugin causing the problem
