Firefox started up with all this stuff about how great it is and required me to create a password etc in order to proceed loading. Got to the mandatory sync page and was stuck, since there is nothing to sync. I should have quit then and reloaded Firefox.
I suggest keep the account logged in and sync on. It might come handy later.
