Why aren't my passwords and user names on different sights crossing from internet explorer to firefox?
I have had disqus usernames and passwords on Internet explorer for quite a while. Have tried to use them on firefox . I have tried to log on to disqus on Mozilla Firefox and am told I have to sign in. When I try to do so I'm told the pass and user are already in use or that they're incorrect. Why can't these be seamlessly carried over to firefox and recognized by disqus when I'm already signed up? I realize it's a different server but why doesn't disqus recognize it and why can Mozilla Firefox transfer them?

Hi djmdgo7, when you first set up Firefox, it may offer to import IE data such as Favorites (converted to Firefox Bookmarks), cookies, and saved logins. But that's a one-time operation which isn't updated.
You could try doing a fresh import of logins, but to be completely honest, I don't know what effect that might have on your current logins, i.e, add to them or replace them. So you might wait for further advice about that.
For possible reference: Import data from another browser.
I don't think that it will be possible to import logins from IE in Firefox on Windows 7. Some related bug are marked as 'wontfix'
- Bug 1587090 - [Windows7] Migrating Passwords from IE (11) fails
- Bug 1535757 - Form passwords are no longer imported from Internet Explorer on Windows 7
