Since I loaded V 4.0 I can't scroll any web page with my laptop scroll button It shows me the scrolling icon when I press the button where my mouse is but when I try to drag up or down it does nothing

Always worked in previous versions

yunlin12 wrote this in another thread It worked

It's a about:config setting.

Type about:config into address bar, hit enter, Firefox would ask if you want to access the settings, say yes you know the risk.

When the list of configurations come up, type "trackpoint" into the filter area, you will see a "ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled" setting, change that from -1 to 1. Now you should be able to scroll using trackpoint and middle mouse button on the trackpad again.

This can be closed

This solution did not work for me. I still have this problem in versions 4 and 5 of Firefox. Setting the trackpoint_hack.enabled from -1 to 1 did not fix the problem.

For me, autoscrolling kind of works but is broken in that it takes three middle clicks every time I want to autoscroll. Here's the behavior:

1st middle click - cursor changes to first icon shown below. autoscrolling not working.

2nd middle click - first icon disappears. autoscrolling still not working.

3rd middle click - 2nd, "correct" autoscrolling icon appears, and autoscrolling now works properly.

once autoscrolling is disabled, I have to go through the 3-click solution every time I want to enable it.

Can someone please give me the solution for this? It's driving me crazy. Well, it's not driving me crazy as much as it's COMPLETELY preventing me from upgrading to Firefox 4 or 5.

Thanks,

RE

The "fix" that the "owner" of this thread posted is probably for a ThinkPad, from what I recall from reading similar threads posted here.

Which brand and model laptop is that?
Have you checked with the manufacturer's website to see if there are newer touch screen drivers than what you are currently using?
