Hi, Google translate page translate doesn't work in firefox 29.0.1 (mac osx). Translate.google.com -> type in url in the box and then translate gives me "This page was not retrieved from its original location over a secure connection." and then nothing happens. I cleared caches and cookies, also did safe mode to disable all add-ons, still doesn't work.

Google translate does work in other browsers (Opera 12.16).

Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks

I guess, I know what the problem is. See, the first thing is, it ain't a Mozilla Problem. It is a Google error, or I should say, it is not an error, but the last 's' stands in 'https', which is for secure is kinda making it not possible.

In other words, Google is trying to support the sites which have the security support over it. It wouldnt prefer to translate the sites which are non-secured, or say, having the prefix 'http'.

For example, you even got your google.com showing like the image below.

So, I would rather recommend you to take the help of an add-on if it aint working, or else try translating the secured sites.

Mozilla would try to work on it as soon as possible, if it is a bug from our side. Thank you for the patience! :)

It has the option to dismiss (see screenshot http example), which does nothing. Shouldn't that dismiss the error? Anyway, when I try it on an https site, it just goes in an endless loop (see screenshot https example).

But like I mentioned, in other browsers it works. So my guess is that it is something between Firefox and Google (maybe some setting in Firefox I'm not seeing).

I have installed imtranslator and use google translate through that which works. Still kinda weird why google translate doesn't work directly, it's bugging me a little bit.

Anyway, the addon is a good workaround.
