On restart I lose all my tab groups and all the "restore previous sessions" options are greyed out. And there is no restore previous session button on the FF homepage. I have checked the settings and they are correct for remembering the windows and tabs.....but they are gone. All my tabs will open in the same group and not in the separate groups I created. I am running FF 30.0 on a Mac OS 10.9.3......this is a recent problem and I am at a loss/ I keep re creating my groups , I have bookmarked my groups and nothing seems to have worked. I just added "Session Manager" but am not sure how to use it...it says there are no recorded sessions in the file ( I have not saved a session since adding this ) . Can you help??

You can try to restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js file.

  • Right-click: Properties > Previous Versions

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Browsing History

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

I have the "show my windows and tabs" set....I do not have the clear history checked.....have checked all that.....I have downloaded the "Sessions" app and save each session and that is working...but it is frustrating that I can't rely on the FF system to remember my stuff.....
