I turned on my pc today and firefox wouldn't load most of the pages i tried to co nnect with, Google, BBC are two of them. I turned on internet ex[plorer and they loaded the pages that fireox wouldn't. I googled for help and followed the steps to clear history, cache and cookies and restarted my PC to be sure it would work but it did nothing. I have no clue what to do but please let me fix this as the problem is enfuriating and I hate having to use internet explorer

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

You can check if is helps if you start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift/Options key.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
