When I copy a some text from Firefox and paste it into MS Word, it always changes the font to Times New Roman. The default font for a blank document in Word is set to Arial and the default font in Firefox is also set to Arial.

The attached image shows examples of the source and te result of the paste in Word.

Copies from other browsers into MS Word uses the correct font (Chrome, IE).

Firefox version is currently 44.0, but this problems dates back to ancient times.

When you copy from a web pages, often the font is set in a style sheet which is not included in your selection. Therefore, that particular font is not placed on the clipboard with the text. I'm sure you've noticed similar issues with other kinds of styling.

Does it help to choose "destination formatting" when you paste into Word? On the right-click context menu, it's the button with the arrow pointing to the right, which has the tooltip "Merge formatting".

I realise that the font in most modern web pages is set in a separate stylesheet file, but Firefox does not obey the default font set in Options (the default font set in Options > Content > Fonts & Colors > Default font is already set to Arial 16pt). Chrome and IE gets it right...

I will use the Merge formatting paste option in Word in the mean time. Having Firefox use the setting in Options > Content > Fonts & Colors > Default font in cases where no font is specified in the page content (e.g. using a stylesheet in a separate file) is still on my wish list.

Thank you for confirming the reason for the problem and suggesting the option of using the Merge Formatting option in Word when pasting.
