Firefox has suddenly started reverting to the last web page even if I am just reading the current one. It is not just one web page that does this. It is clicking the back arrow function on its own. I'm using Windows 7, and have the NoScript add-on.

Thanks for sorting out which site it was. Not sure why it causes that problem in Firefox but not other browsers.

(Another user reported this only on one site, but that thread remains unsolved.)

There is a script command sites could use to go Back but it seems unlikely that is the issue because why would they want you to leave their site?

Do you use any other extensions that might not be fully compatible with Firefox 44?

If there any pattern to how long it takes before Firefox goes back?

By default, the Backspace key works like the Back button. Could you turn that off (either temporarily or permanently) to see whether that makes any difference? Here's how:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste back and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.backspace_action preference and change the value from 0 to 2 (or anything other than 0 or 1) and then click OK.

(FYI - setting it to 1 causes the Backspace key to behave like Page Up)

I followed your advice and changed the back setting, but the problem just happened again. I went from my msn.com email account to wunderground.com, and it reverted back to my email page on its own after a few seconds.

I have no other add-ons with Firefox. I'll keep you posted on this when it happens again. Thanks for trying.

I believe I found the problem. There is a bad script on wxug.com, the radar map subprogram for the weather underground website.

It is now so unstable I can't even load it without it reverting to my previous web page, whatever it may be.

Sorry to have bothered you with someone else's software issue.

Thanks for your help.
