when I start Firefox it opens old tabs for web pages I had open from a week ago. I does this on each PC I have synced for my Firefox browser. I did a Firefox refresh on each machine yet I still get old tabs each time I restart Firefox. I restarted each PC as well.

If you have sync, and there is a problem anywhere, Shut Down Sync Immediately to prevent the problem from spreading. once the problem is fixed, perform the same repair on all computers before using sync again.

You may have corrupt sessionstore file(s).

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the sessionstore file(s). Then rename or delete them. Restart Firefox.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder that stores session data. When sessionstore.js is deleted you lose pinned tabs and Tab Groups and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

You can check the startup setting.

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox starts":
"Show my windows and tabs from last time"
    "Show my home page"
    "Show a blank page"
