My email trash folder contains deleted emails from 2015 through Jan. 2016--nothing more recent. Where are the recently deleted emails?

Right click the folder, select setting and then the repair folder. And change?
Have you been holding Shift when you delete? That bypasses the deleted folder to the bit bucket in the sky.
