I keep searching and reading articles, and even signed into Firefox from my mobile, but every article refers to menus that appear to be on Firefox for a Desktop and the instructions make no sense while using Firefox for android.

I want to do a Factory Reset on my Android mobile, and do not want to lose my bookmarks in Firefox for Android? I want to be able to restore my bookmarks in Firefox for Android after I complete the Factory Reset and then download the Firefox for Android app again.

It is not possible to reach the file that the bookmarks are stored in. You would need to use Firefox Sync. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/sync-bookmarks-tabs-history-and-passwords-android

Thank you kbrosnan.

I previously read various posts regarding sync, and my account displayed a recent sync. However, the other articles indicated that sync is a volatile thing and should not be relied upon for backup of things like bookmarks.

In short: if I see a recent 'sync' message on my account page and then perform a Factory Reset on my Android, I worry that the bookmarks will still be lost upon downloading the Firefox for Android app again and signing in, based upon other similar posts that conclude with 'sorry, your bookmarks are gone'.

My problem with relying on sync is twofold in that 1) I have no other web connection other than my mobile cell service, and 2) the bookmarks in my notebook PC Firefox are completely different than those on my Android mobile Firefox (so even if I had a wifi connection and could sync between the two devices, I worry about overwriting one set of bookmarks).

You could make a separate profile on your PC for an assurance that your mobile bookmarks are backed up. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
