What adblocker do you have installed?

How can I find if I have an adblocker installed?

P.S. Sometimes, when I'm connected to a website, I get a message from Firefox saying that the previous supplied data needs to be re-sent.

Hi gcotterl, are these transient issues that clear up after some time or after exiting Firefox and starting it up again, or during certain times of day, or is this the new permanent normal for your Firefox?

Does your Firefox connect "indirectly," for example, through security software, a proxy server, or a parental control filter? Such connections may be invisible/transparent to Firefox if they are set up at the system level.

Could you check your internal Firefox connection setting here:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the search box at the top of the page, type proxy and Firefox should filter to the "Settings" button, which you can click.

The default of "Use system proxy settings" piggybacks on your Windows/IE "LAN" setting. "Auto-detect" can lead to a flaky connection. You may want to try "No proxy".

Any difference?

If you are viewing a page that was generated in response to submitting a form, and you reload that page (e.g., Ctrl+r), then it's normal for Firefox to give you that warning. It dates back to the days that you might accidentally duplicate an online order that way, although I think most sites have evolved past that point by now.

Or if you go "Back" to a page that was generated by submitting a form, and Firefox does not have a copy of the page in cache, it needs to resubmit the form to re-retrieve the page.

The issues are the new permanent normal for my Firefox

Firefox does NOT connect through security software, a proxy server, or a parental control filter

Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options I've changed the "Settings" to "No Proxy"

=================

After making that change, I restarted my PC and Firefox. The same issues continue.

Do any addresses work?

Does anything in this article help: Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can?

I've done everything in the article but the problems continue (no improvement).

To try to assess whether this is a settings or settings file issue, could you try:

New Profile Test

This takes about 3 minutes, plus the time to test a few problem sites.

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

Click the Create a New Profile button, then click Next. Assign a name like July2018, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button.

After creating the profile, scroll down to it and click the Set as default profile button below that profile, then scroll back up and click the Restart normally button. (There are some other buttons, but please ignore them.)

Firefox should exit and then start up using the new profile, which will just look brand new. Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account or to activate extensions found on your system so we can get a clean test.

Does Firefox connect to the problem sites in the new profile?

When you are done with the experiment, open the about:profiles page again, click the Set as default profile button for your normal profile, then click the Restart normally button to get back to it.

On the about:profiles page, which is my "normal" profile:

It's probably the long one. The name pattern is related to using the Refresh feature, and that number represents a specific moment on March 25, 2016.

Done but Firefox still has the same issues in the new profile.

If it isn't a setting in your regular profile, it sounds like an external issue such as firewall or DNS. Other then the article I references before, I don't know where to suggest you look for the block.
